Rolex Forums - Rolex Watch Forum > Rolex & Tudor Watch Topics > Rolex General Discussion: Dust on dial??? Recently I noticed a small dust speck inside the case between the front crystal and dial at about the 11 o'clock position. The speck seems to be sticking to the crystal itself and while largely unnoticeable, it's bugging me now that I've seen it. However, they’d have to take the whole inside out and “overhaul” it. As another person mentioned, it may not run as precise the next time, but you can send it back for regulation under warranty. Unfortunately, you’re looking at 6-8 weeks if sent to the Dallas RSC.
I had my older Rolex serviced at AD, and when I went to pick it up I noticed a little speck of dust on the dial, so I just told the service guy. He was really nice and took it to the back for maybe ten minutes and brought it back dust free.
I’ve seen a few with scratches on the dial and even some where the colour is wearing out. Mainly because of lack of servicing. Once you leave it too long moisture starts to get in and corrosion starts. Also watch parts wear and there’s dust inside the watch from that. I then notice dust inside the case on the front dial of my explorer - circled below right above the 8 o clock hour marker. It's something once you see you can't unsee - like an itch you can't scratch. It's true that one shouldn't have to expect dust on a dial after repair/service, but from people's experiences this seems to be "normal" (I.e. on average occurs often). The easiest way to deal with this might be to learn to accept/live with a bit of wabi sabi and microcopic dust because as some people mentioned, the more you send it back, there .
